The Art of Deserting: Atmosphere in abandoned places
Research Diploma Thesis by Vicky Privartitsiani, July 2020

"This research deals with the study of abandoned places as works of nature that engage in a dialogue with humans, evoking feelings of pleasure or displeasure and provoking reflections on their nature and the world they inhabit. More specifically, the focus of this work is the autonomy of ruins as expressions of the purity of time, with an honesty towards the natural flow of life, through which humans can escape from the illusion of the utopian reality imposed by society. Its purpose is to identify the characteristics of the atmosphere created in abandoned places, so that through personal experiential encounters with these ruins, it can explore to what extent these characteristics contribute to the internal search and exploration of human nature and its relationship with the environment."
