This project marks my first experience designing and building a piece of furniture entirely from wood while attending woodworking classes at “Paramikro”.
The stool was constructed using reclaimed oak timber that I collected and repurposed, transforming discarded material into a functional object. Designed with versatility in mind, the piece can serve both as a stool and as a bedside table.
The design follows a simple approach, emphasizing the natural character of the wood and the quality of its construction. Crafted entirely with hand tools, the piece features a sturdy, screw-free structure based on traditional joinery techniques.
The final piece was finished with a white wax coating, enhancing the wood's texture while providing protection and a soft, natural appearance. Through this project, I developed a deeper appreciation for craftsmanship, material reuse, and the process of making by hand. It was also an opportunity to understand the relationship between design and construction at a smaller scale. This experience sparked my interest in furniture making and further exploration of woodworking as a creative practice.
